Green Valley apologizes for disappointing luncheon…..

Dear OSWGA Members,

First of all, thank for your continued support of OSWGA. We continue to be a force in women’s golf in RI and we could not be doing that without all of you!

As a member of Green Valley Country Club, I felt as though I was, in some ways, your host for the OSWGA tournament on August 20th. I love my golf course and believe it compares to some of the finest in the state.

That said, I must admit I was very disappointed with the food and how it was presented to our members at the tournament OSWGA held at GVCC that day.

To make a very long story short, after that experience, I met with the owner, Ryan Raposa. It was with displeasure I told him that I had never heard so many complaints about a lunch served following an OSWGA tournament. I compared to Ryan our food experience at other clubs pointing out how below the mark GVCC fell. I asked point blank, maybe we can’t afford you. I asked Ryan if it was possible to have a luncheon at GVCC up to our standards and within our budget.

Ryan could not have been more apologetic. He has assured me that we are so very welcome next year and that he will personally work to make sure anyone playing comes away with a fabulous luncheon experience. He supports the posting of this message!

So………we have included GVCC on the schedule for next year appreciating that GVCC kitchen just had a bad day-it happens. Ryan is now aware that many of our members choose their OSWGA schedule not only on the golf course but based on the food-come on you know it’s true!! To quote players, “I am playing……. Monatup (surf & turf), Acoaxet (last year-chowder & lobster roll), Laurel Lane (complete summer BBQ), Wannamoisett (incredible salad bar buffet), Ledgemont (another incredible salad bar buffet), Fall River (great buffet & homemade bread pudding!) Alpine (Italian feast), Kirkbrae (another Italian feast, Valley (and yet another Italian feast), etc” (and the list goes on) and we often hear …….  “at least if I don’t play well, I’m going to have a great lunch”.

Hope to see you at Green Valley in 2013.
