6/20-All that played will agree we had glorious days of golf! The weather and the course could not have been more perfect! Annie Drescher, owner of Allie’s Donuts, thank you for the donuts! We all agree you have to make it to all rounds for more than one reason. We hope you play well and we want to enjoy your delicious donuts everyday!

To all who played-as well as to all members, your support is appreciated. There were many wonderful comments regarding this tournament and hope more will join us at the 2014 RI Women’s State Four-Ball.

6/19-Finals are tomorrow!

6/18-All will agree we had a beautiful day for golf! Wednesday Tee Times-please go to the link above for your division to check on your tee time. 1st Tee Time is 8:00 am and the last Tee Time is 8:56 so plan accordingly. A point of interest,  unfortunately, one team was DQ’d today for an infraction of a local rule that OSWGA adopted 2 years ago.   Use of Measuring Devices. FYI-your association or club has to adopt this local rule for your members to be able to use GPS legally. There are additional stipulations as to what sort of GPS is allowed. In summary, most Smart Phone golf GPS aps are illegal because the phone can determine climate and geographic measurements-regardless if that option is on or off.

9. Distance-Measuring Devices

If the Committee wishes to act in accordance with the Note under Rule 14-3, the following wording is recommended:

“(Specify as appropriate, e.g., In this competition, or For all play at this course, etc.), a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, windspeed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.
